ATIO Certified Translator
2017 to present
Association of Translators and Interpreter of Ontario (ATIO) is a member organization of Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council. I am certified to translate Turkish to English and vice versa. I mostly translate personal documents under this capacity, such as diplomas, degrees, transcripts, birth certificates, marriage certificates, bank statements etc.
Sworn Interpreter/Translator - The Embassy of Republic of Turkey in Ottawa
I was sworn in at the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa. I occasionally visit the embassy to interpret for foreign nationals who usually want to have a power of attorney issued. Sworn translations into Turkish are also common for those who need a sworn/notarized translation to be used in Turkey.
2006 to present
I have landed over 100 international clients throughout my career as a freelance translator. Most of these were translation companies, but some were direct end clients who have become regulars. With confidence and competence in a variety of subject matters, I have exceeded the expectations of many clients. In 2014, I was awarded the Rising Star Award by the Language Strategy Team of CCL (Center for Creative Leadership) in Brussels, an organization ranked among the world’s top providers of executive education. In 2019, I was the winner of a proZ.com Translation Contest (Benevolent deception).
The University of British Columbia
After many years in translation, I wanted to diversify my career and decided to study Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures (CILPP). This was a remote graduate certificate program that I completed successfully.
I studied Public Administration at Anadolu Üniversitesi in Turkey. This was an undergraduate degree program. I never practiced this profession and went head first into translation in 2006, as soon as I graduated.
Here are some of the software I use.
